EA has partnered with CRRC Dalian, a leading railway manufacturer from China, to develop battery-electric locomotives and Power Car trainsets
in compliance with the standards of the State Railway of Thailand. The prototype units have been installed and tested at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal.
The system is supported by Battery Swap Stations, reducing energy replacement time from approximately one hour to just 10 minutes. This enables continuous long-distance operations without waiting for charging, significantly improving service efficiency and operational flexibility.
The project also supports the EV on Train initiative, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower pollution levels, and enhance the overall efficiency and sustainability of Thailand’s rail network.
